Your voice
Is a nest of time
First learning behind words
Their velvet center
Taking us both back to
Before I had language, listening to your
Interpretation of sound
I am the shell, come from the whorl of your ear
Talking to ourselves in drowsy pattern
We stitch close, layers forming billowing sails
As if all the world were a silken dream
And the smooth gust presses us into
Everlasting attachment

  1. This truly is a beautiful sentiment… a nostalgic memory that feels like a soothing embrace keeping us safe. Hoping the sentiment expressed is also because of more recent developments with family. Keeping you in my thoughts dear friend ღ

  2. Oh forgot to mention as all your writing has been exquisite, I especially liked “Walked with angels” from Saturday past. xx

  3. I love the picture and the idea behind this poem.
I am still very much in need of being talked to sleep. Being told a story and gently drifting off… It is something I wish I could get from time to time 🙂

  4. Sorry, I realised as I posted that the way I phrased my comment could be construed as me saying I don’t like the poem. I DO 😀
I like the image the poem conveys, and I’m fascinated by your way with words!

  5. That’s a lovely thing to say! I know mine say how much they appreciate us as parents, but other parents are much more judgemental. We have never got any of them through conservatoire or into prépas or even much interested in ‘achievements’ at all.

  6. It’s just what I do…with posts important to me. And there still are those who who are highly offended when I do that—to their POSTS IN PUBLIC!!! 🙂 People can be so strange! 🙂
